Job SummaryThe Substitute Teacher fills in for one of the two regular classroom or aftercare teachers in their temporary absence. The Substitute Teacher follows the plans or guides provided by the classroom teacher or Director and reports to the ECDC Director. ECDC is open from 7:30 a.m.–6 p.m.; substitution takes place for no longer than 10 hours on any given day, as agreed between the Director and substitute.
Responsibilities& Duties
- Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school.
- Supervises children for safety and appropriate behavior.
- Assists students in supervised activities.
- Demonstrates a willingness to respond to individual student needs.
- Reinforces positive behavior management procedures.
- Ensures the safety of the children by following all St. Louis Catholic Church and School and State of Texas regulations regarding childcare.
- Models appropriate play and interaction for children.
- Sits with children at snack and lunch time, modeling proper table manners.
- Respects the confidentiality of staff, children, and families.
- Knows all emergency procedures, including location of emergency phone numbers and building emergency procedures.
- Communicates effectively with students, parents, and other professionals.
- Communicates with the ECDC Director about any problems or concerns.
- Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits.
- Follows direction and handles multiple tasks.
- Other duties as directed by the ECDC Director.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must have a High School diploma or equivalent.
- CDA credential is a plus.
- Experience working with children preferred.
- Valid Texas driver's license or government‑issued .
- Must maintain compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout the employment period.
- Must be able to pass an extensive criminal background check.
The Pastor is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the parish (St. Louis King of France Catholic Church and School - Austin, Texas). The Pastor employs suitable collaborators (clerics, religious, or laypeople) to fulfill his mission. Employees in this position are closely connected to, and assist the Pastor in, the performance of his ministry and thereby engage in ministry for the Church.

- All employees of the parish are engaged in ministry and closely tied to the Pastor in the exercise of his ministry and obligations to the church.
- The parish is an at‑will employer.
- All buildings and vehicles owned by the parish are tobacco free.
- Working in a fast‑paced environment with priorities and plans that may change rapidly.
- May be required to engage in religious ceremonies, conduct, and speech including Catholic prayer and liturgical celebrations.
- Will be required to adhere to established dress codes and conduct standards.
Base rate is $17 per hour.
