Specialized Faculty Teaching Position – Clinical Microbiology
St. Edward’s University is inviting applications for a full-time 9‑month specialized faculty (non‑tenure‑track) position as an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences, beginning August 2026.
Department: Biological Sciences
Location: Austin, TX
- Teach a typical load of five 3‑credit courses per semester.
- Prepare and teach lecture and laboratory courses in microbiology for Nursing majors (BIOL 2318 / 2118 Clinical Microbiology).
- Teach additional courses such as General Biology sequence, Immunology, or other courses consistent with the applicant’s expertise.
- Supervise undergraduate teaching assistants.
- Advise undergraduate students.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Ph.D. in Microbiology or a related field.
- Background in microbiology and a passion for teaching undergraduate courses to Nursing majors.
- Ability to teach Immunology is especially encouraged.
- Ability to work effectively in a collegial environment.
- Interest in and potential to support a diverse student body.
