This position is responsible for collaborating within the Multilingual Education Team, with other members of the Office of Academics and the Office of School Leadership, campus administrators and instructional coaches that strengthen the implementation of effective World Languages programs. This would include the language courses for Secondary Dual Language, through facilitation of program development, professional learning, capacity development, and data analysis.
Incumbent must ensure that World Language courses are provided in alignment with state, federal and District laws, rules, regulations, policies, and guidelines.
A Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field from an accredited college or university is required. A Master’s Degree is preferred. Experience working with students learning languages other than English (LOTE), and bilingual ability in English and one or more additional languages is required. A valid LOTE Texas teaching certificate and five (5) years of successful experience teaching world language courses in urban schools with diverse student populations is preferred.
A Texas driver’s license is required. District-wide travel required.
This position requires:
- Knowledge of World Language program design and instructional practices and Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).
- Effective written and oral communication skills in English and one or more additional languages.
- Ability to coach adults, design and facilitate effective professional learning, evaluate performance, provide, and receive constructive feedback, and collaborate with others.
- Proficiency with technology, including Google Suite (GSlides, GDocs, etc.), Microsoft Suite, and Canvas LMS
- Ability to manage time and resources effectively and efficiently, organize and maintain records, and analyze data.
