Introduction to the team:

The Product Team creates high‑quality end‑to‑end experiences for travelers, partners, and Expedia Group. Our customer‑first mindset focuses on developing products that encourage loyalty and repeat business, and we partner closely with teams across Expedia Group to drive growth and results for our customers and the company.

This role sits within the Expedia Product & Technology division, leading experience design for Checkout and Offers/Merchandising across multiple brands, products, and platforms to deliver seamless, high‑performing shopping and purchase journeys.

As the Experience Design Leader for Checkout and Offers/Merchandising, you will define and drive the design vision for some of Expedia Group’s most critical, revenue‑driving experiences. You will lead a multi‑disciplinary team, partner closely with Product, Engineering, Data, and Marketing, and use experimentation, research, and analytics to continuously optimize conversion, attachment, and customer satisfaction across the end‑to‑end shopping and purchase funnel.

In

this role, you will:
  • Lead the end‑to‑end user experience strategy and execution for Checkout and Offers/Merchandising, ensuring cohesive, high‑performing journeys across multiple products, brands, and platforms.
  • Define and drive a clear design vision, principles, and north‑star experiences that align with business goals, customer needs, and platform capabilities across the shopping and purchase funnel.
  • Build, lead, and mentor a multi‑disciplinary experience design team (e.g., product design, content, research, service design) to deliver high‑quality, data‑informed design solutions at scale.
  • Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Data, Marketing, and other stakeholders to prioritize problems, shape roadmaps, and ship iterative improvements that drive measurable business and customer impact.
  • Use quantitative and qualitative insights, including experimentation, user research, and funnel analytics, to guide decision making and optimize checkout, merchandising, offers, and promotional experiences.
  • Champion and apply AI‑driven systems, tools, and workflows—including AI/ML concepts applied to real‑world products—to improve customer experiences and operational efficiency across checkout and merchandising flows, ensuring solutions can flex across multiple domains and surfaces.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 10+ years designing digital product experiences (consumer or enterprise), with deep experience in scaling complex systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in design, Human‑Computer Interaction, User Experience, or a closely related field—or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Extensive experience in experience design, product design, or a related field leading complex, multi‑surface consumer or e‑commerce experiences, including demonstrated ownership of critical purchase or transactional flows such as checkout, payments, or offers.
  • Proven track record leading and developing design teams, including directly managing senior individual contributors and/or managers and operating effectively within cross‑functional product development organizations.
