Position Summary
The In-House Architect is responsible for supporting the design, documentation, and coordination of residential and light commercial construction projects from concept through construction. This role works closely with the Project Manager, Construction Manager, and leadership team to ensure designs are functional, buildable, code‑compliant, and aligned with project budgets and schedules. The Architect will prepare drawings, coordinate with consultants, assist with permitting, and support construction teams throughout project execution.

- Produce accurate, complete, and buildable construction documents.
- Ensure designs align with project scope, budget, and schedule.
- Maintain compliance with applicable building codes and zoning requirements.
- Provide timely design support to project and construction teams.
- Demonstrate strong collaboration and communication across departments.

- Prepare architectural drawings from schematic design through construction documents.
- Revise plans as required based on field conditions, client input, or budget changes.
- Coordinate drawings with consultants (engineering, MEP, structural as applicable).
- Ensure drawings meet local codes, zoning regulations, and permitting requirements.
- Assist with permit submittals and respond to plan review comments.
- Maintain organized and up‑to‑date drawing sets and digital files.
- Respond to RFIs and design‑related questions from the Construction Manager and vendors.
- Review shop drawings and submittals for design intent.
- Conduct occasional site visits to verify design implementation.
- Assist with punch lists and final walkthroughs as needed.
- Collaborate with construction teams to resolve design conflicts efficiently.
- Work closely with the Project Manager to align design intent with project scope and budget.
- Support value engineering efforts when required.
- Participate in internal project meetings.
- Anticipate design challenges and proactively propose solutions.
- Evaluate design challenges and provide practical, buildable solutions.
- Balance aesthetics, functionality, cost, and constructability.
- Prioritize tasks based on project deadlines and critical path.
- Consult with leadership before making decisions that affect scope, schedule, or budget.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong understanding of residential construction methods.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in architectural design software.
- Ability to collaborate in a team‑oriented environment.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture.
- 2–5 years of professional architectural experience.
- Working knowledge of residential building codes and permitting processes in the City of Austin, Texas.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design software.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
- Architecture stamp and ability to stamp plans.
