An essential team member, the role collaborates with patients, families and multidisciplinary staff to provide chair‑side assistance to the dentist.
Responsibilities- Assist dentist with oral hygiene instruction.
- Take, develop and mount X‑rays and impressions of dentures for dental appliances.
- Order and maintain supply inventory.
- Perform procedures in accordance with infection control policies and prepare operatories for patient treatment.
- Accurately report and document status, care rendered, provider orders, and contacts with patients or other healthcare providers.
- Maintain patient follow‑up procedures and assist front‑desk staff as needed.
- Complete direct‑ and indirect‑care documentation promptly, ensuring records are current and complete.
- Attend daily patient‑care huddles, periodic informational huddles, meetings, patient conferences, or planning sessions related to quality assurance and patient care.
- Participate in continuing education seminars to maintain licensure and certification requirements.
- Contribute to quality strategies, evaluating compliance with evidence‑based guidelines and identifying opportunities to improve patient outcomes.
- Ensure all tasks comply with regulatory and accreditation standards—including The Joint Commission and Comm Unity Care policies.
- Develop and maintain favorable internal relationships with clinical managers, support staff, providers, and business office staff.
- Collaborate with all care‑team members to provide patient‑centered care.
- High level of skill at building relationships and providing excellent customer service.
- Requisite dental task skills and ability to perform assigned responsibilities.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to utilize computers for data entry and information retrieval.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Graduation from high school or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited course in dental assistance.
Experience in the dental field preferred.
Required Certifications & Licensure- Texas State Board of Dental Examiners – Radiology, Jurisprudence and Infection Control certificates.
- Current healthcare provider CPR course completion card; certification to be maintained during employment.
