Role Overview

The Senior Superintendent provides overall field leadership and management for large, complex commercial construction projects valued at $200M+. This role is responsible for safety, quality, schedule, and field operations from groundbreaking through project closeout, working in close partnership with the Project Manager to deliver projects on time and within budget.

This is a GC-side field leadership role. Candidates must come from general contractor environments with direct ownership of field operations on large commercial projects. Owner s rep, civil, and non-GC backgrounds will not be considered.

Core Responsibilities
  • Lead and model a strong safety culture across the project site; investigate incidents and retrain staff as needed
  • Manage and oversee subcontractors, suppliers, and company staff including safety, quality, and EEOC compliance
  • Develop and implement work plans for subcontractors and self-performed work
  • Coordinate and manage the care, custody, and control of the project site
  • Lead daily standup meetings, weekly trade meetings, and participate in OAC meetings
  • Create, manage, and update the project schedule in conjunction with the Project Manager
  • Track and monitor project budget and costs using project management cost reports
  • Communicate key project information to owners, design teams, governing authorities, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Maintain project documentation including drawings, logs, diaries, and inspection notebooks
  • Evaluate progress on self-perform work and make adjustments as needed
  • Manage material and equipment needs for the project
  • Support procurement and approval processes for materials and other costs
  • Manage timecard approval to ensure accurate hours and proper cost coding
  • Ensure quality compliance through specifications, QA/QC standards, and outside resources
  • Support project closeout by supervising pre-punch activities and coordinating with owner, architect, and governing authorities
  • Partner with project management to identify schedule and cost impacts associated with project changes
  • Participate in subcontractor and vendor buyout meetings
  • Understand and apply terms and conditions of owner and subcontractor contracts
Required Background
  • Currently or recently employed at a General Contractor (GC); owner's rep, civil, and non-GC backgrounds will not be considered
  • $200M+ single project experience required; project values must be listed on resume
  • 15+ years of experience as a Senior Superintendent on large commercial projects
  • Experience building hospitals, ground-up or renovation (preferred)
  • Large healthcare project experience (preferred)
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.; visa sponsorship is not available
  • Proven ability to lead field teams and manage subcontractors on complex commercial projects
  • Strong understanding of construction means and methods, scheduling, and field operations
  • Strong communication skills with ability to interface with owners, design teams, and subcontractors
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours as project demands require
