Job Summary

Our Traffic Signal Construction Manager provides management and direction of Traffic Signal construction activities. The candidate oversees the installation, maintenance, and repair of traffic signals and related infrastructure. Project work includes project management, resource allocation, equipment management, and utility construction. Duties performed are associated with human resources, payroll, accounting, and administrative functions. This position supports the Civil Construction team and works with field personnel, senior operations management, and customers.

Responsibilities
  • Manage all projects to completion on-time and within budget.
  • Proficiency in traffic signal design, including knowledge of signal phasing, timing, and coordination.
  • Ensures compliance with state regulations and company policies.
  • Familiarity with traffic management systems, signal controllers, and related software.
  • Schedule the crews, identify and delegate the crews to start their work, review project timelines and expectations, and supervise work performance and job quality.
  • Project Management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Participate in the hiring process and maintain all employment related paperwork (i.e. new hire paperwork, separation paperwork, employment data changes, etc.).
  • Promote a safe work environment, holding crews accountable to safe work practices.
  • Determine job costs, labor, and material needed, ensuring on-time deliveries.
  • Prepare and interpret drawings, graphs, maps, blueprints, bid documents, contracts, proposals, and specifications.
  • Identify and resolve any blueprint issues prior to and during construction.
  • Identify and supervise subcontractors to perform their tasks, inspect, and/or bill any relevant personnel/contractors.
  • Take responsibility for all personnel and any vehicles or equipment in their control.
  • Participate in meetings with senior operations management, peers, and/or customers.
  • Participate in estimating and bidding projects, contract negotiations, and change order preparation.
Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5 years of Traffic Signal Construction Manager experience.
  • 2 years in a supervisory position.
  • Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members, contractors, and local authorities.
  • Relevant work experience in Traffic Signal installation, maintenance, or construction is essential.
  • Experience managing construction projects, coordinating with contractors, and overseeing traffic control operations.
Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification.
  • 10 years of Traffic Signal Construction Management experience.
  • International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) certifications.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, and scanners. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This position is primarily sedentary, with some filing or lifting required. Must be able to bend and lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
