The Project Engineer tracks and maintains records that are associated with costs, deliveries and payroll at the job site. The Project Engineer is also responsible for tracking and maintaining all safety communications, manuals and records.
RESPONSIBILITIES Safety- Prepare and give weekly Tool Box Talks, Daily Safety Huddles and maintain records.
- Maintain a file for One Call Center requests to ensure no utilities are damaged during construction activities.
- Maintain a retrievable filing system for the Hazardous Communication Program - MSDS.
- Maintain the Project Safety Manual, make periodic jobsite safety inspections and record/file all findings.
- Perform weekly jobsite safety inspections and communicate findings with team members.
- Perform daily Quantity Review with Superintendent and Job Foreman.
- Enter daily quantities into system and file daily sheets.
- Track completion of work on project plans.
- Perform monthly review of estimates with job Superintendent.
- Maintain a file for tracking all extra work.
- Notify Project Manager or Area Manager of anticipated overruns/under runs.
- Request a copy of Final Estimate with each monthly estimate and send to Area Manager - State DOT projects only.
- Maintain General correspondence file with correspondence log.
- Maintain Shop Drawing Log.
- Maintain Subcontractor daily log.
- Maintain Delivery log.
- Accurately track Asphalt and other major materials that are delivered versus the quantity paid for.
- Enter daily payroll information by specific task and assist in productivity tracking.
- Track all subcontractors that worked on the project for the month utilizing the Subcontractor daily log.
- Submit copies of the Sub Log to Payroll monthly and notifying Area Managers of delays.
- Maintain Job Records.
- Track Job Codes using Phase Code System.
- Maintain the Request for Information (RFI) to the owner.
- Assist in purchase of job materials to ensure the proper quantities are delivered.
- Review project plans and assist in ensuring work is completed properly.
- Assist with developing project look-ahead schedules.
- B.S. Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering with 2+ years of related experience.
- Experience in Heavy Construction (site-work, roads or environmental).
- Must be capable of meeting deadlines, self-motivated, detail oriented; have above average interpersonal skills and have excellent follow-through capability.
- Verbal and written communication skills are essential to this position.
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast paced environment; able to accurately process written documents, perform duties in a timely manner, be highly organized and able to interface; communicate effectively with company, clients and field personnel at all levels.
