About

The Role

MWH is currently seeking a qualified Safety Specialist to support critical water, wastewater, and advanced water treatment plant projects for municipal and industrial clients. The position will be based onsite in the Austin, TX area.

Core Responsibilities
  • Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (60%)
  • Conduct multiple site inspections throughout the day to identify potential hazards and verify compliance.
  • Document observations, incidents, photos, etc. in Procore.
  • Ensure hazards are mitigated in a timely manner.
  • Safety Planning (20%)
  • Ensure safety protocols are integrated into daily activity planning and execution before work begins.
  • Ensure safety documentation is uploaded daily to Procore for all subcontractors.
  • Maintain SDS sheets for site.
  • Training (10%)
  • Conduct site-safety orientation for subcontractors.
  • Maintain training matrix for MWH employees on-site.
  • Incident Investigation (5%)
  • Assist Safety Manager in investigating accidents, near-misses, and unsafe practices.
  • Prepare reports and recommend corrective actions as directed by Safety Manager.
  • PPE Management (5%)
  • Ensure proper use and availability of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Distribute PPE to internal employees as part of onboarding process.
  • Track and maintain PPE inventory.
Basic Qualifications
  • 4-year occupational safety/health degree (Degree in Safety. BCSP & OSHA certs)
  • Working knowledge of OSHA standards (3-5 years experience).
  • Working construction knowledge (3+ years experience).
  • Familiarity with safety management software (e.g. Procore).
  • Strong communication, teamwork, conflict resolution, and leadership skills.
  • Thorough understanding of construction methods and federal, state, health and safety standards.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office, and other computer applications.
Compensation
  • $90,000 - $120,000 a year DOE
