Construction Materials Testing Technician – Austin, TX

Our team handles management, observation/inspection, laboratory testing, and materials and forensic engineering across more than 25 accredited laboratories.
Step into Your New RoleKleinfelder, a long‑standing industry leader in Texas, seeks a Construction Materials Testing Technician to join our Austin office. Responsibilities- Follow proper procedures for construction observation and materials testing.
- Complete work in a timely manner.
- Prepare daily field observation reports and materials testing data sheets.
- Perform accurate computations.
- Maintain cordial relationships with coworkers, clients, contractors, etc.
- Work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
- Travel as required from time to time.
- 1–3 years of construction materials testing or inspection experience.
- Valid ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade 1 Certification.
- Valid Radiation Safety training certification for operation of a nuclear density gauge.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license with good driving record.
- Proficient with a company‑provided laptop or tablet and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong work ethic and high level of personal integrity.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Valid TxDOT Testing Certifications.
- Valid ICC Special Inspector Certifications (Reinforced Concrete, Prestressed Concrete, Structural Masonry, Spray Applied Fireproofing, Structural Steel and Bolting, Structural Welding).
- Valid Post‑Tensioning Institute (PTI) Field Certification.
- Valid OSHA‑10 Certification.
- Bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds (22.68 kg) repetitively and over 50 pounds using handling equipment.
- Operate heavy equipment as necessary (e.g., ultrasonic non‑destructive testing machine, concrete cylinder press).
- Maintain safe mobility over construction obstacles by foot and ladder.
- Work outside in variable weather at field sites and in labs with appropriate safety protection.
