Geotechnical Field Technician/Project Coordinator – Austin, Texas
Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions to top-recognized global brands, is actively seeking a Geotechnical Field Technician/Project Coordinator to join our Professional Services Industries, Inc. (Intertek-PSI) team in Austin, Texas. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile career in the architectural, engineering, and construction (A/E/C) industry.
What you’ll do:
- Coordinate project logistics and visit client sites to ensure smooth operations, maintaining clear communication.
- Support staff engineers in the lab, assisting with tasks as needed to keep projects on track during periods of low-field activity.
- Serve as the main point of contact for clients, effectively communicating project updates, addressing concerns, and ensuring project requirements are met.
- Travel to job sites (approximately 60% of the time) to oversee project progress, maintain a presence, and ensure compliance with project plans and safety protocols.
- Collaborate with field and office staff to ensure a seamless flow of information and resources in support of project objectives.
- Assist staff engineers with laboratory tasks—sample preparation, data entry, and related duties—when not engaged in field work.
- Maintain accurate and timely project records, including reports, field notes, and communication logs.
Minimum
Requirements & Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent AND 2 years of experience in geotechnical or construction materials testing;
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering AND relevant testing experience;
- Valid driver’s license with a reliable driving record;
- Ability to work off‑shift and overtime as needed;
- Physical ability to lift, move, push, and pull 10–30 lbs frequently (occasionally >50 lbs with assistance);
- Strong oral communication skills and the ability to receive detailed information;
- Ability to kneel, squat, climb, walk, stand, and walk/stand for extended periods.
Preferred
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering;
- 2 years of experience in geotechnical or construction materials testing.
