Traveling Safety Manager - CHST Required
Join B&B Concrete Contractors as a Traveling Safety Manager (CHST Required). This role supports the Project Staff and the Concrete Strategies safety team to implement corporate safety and health standards in line with federal, state and local regulations.
Responsibilities- Assist in developing the project safety program.
- Establish and conduct jobsite orientation for new employees.
- Administer and record orientation program participation.
- Attend initial meetings with project staff and subcontractors to define roles.
- Conduct pre‑planning safety meetings with subcontractor representatives.
- Hold weekly safety meetings with subcontractors and project staff.
- Facilitate training for site personnel; ensure compliance with OSHA/Concrete Strategies and federal/state standards.
- Maintain logs of subcontractor toolbox safety meetings.
- Review subcontractor safety programs and verify compliance.
- Ensure subcontractors designate trained safety representatives.
- Conduct daily and weekly jobsite inspections, complete safety checklists and report violations.
- Notify and prepare written reports of any violations or unsafe practices.
- Immediately stop any violation or unsafe act.
- Assist the Project Superintendent in establishing fire prevention, evacuation and fire control procedures.
- Investigate incidents and produce proper reports.
- Maintain all required safety records.
- Conduct a monthly overview safety meeting and attend project staff meetings to brief on safety issues.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
- Strong management, leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- B.S. in Safety and Health or equivalent.
- At least four years of safety experience in building construction or related field.
- CHST certification required.
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
- Computer skills, familiarity with Microsoft Office.
Physical requirements include climbing stairs, using construction hoists, climbing ladders, negotiating work areas, use of hands, standing, lifting up to 75 pounds, working outdoors and under risk of electrical shock.
