Texas Global advances UT Austin's academic mission by leading, supporting, and coordinating the university's international engagement efforts, fostering strategic partnerships on campus and abroad, welcoming international students and scholars, and creating opportunities for students and faculty to engage globally. Texas Global comprises nine units, employs over 140 staff members, and continues to grow.
PurposeServe as a key team member of the Global Innovation Lab (GIL), collaborating with peers and supervisors to identify new ways to engage GIL globally, based on market demands. GIL is part of the Global Programs & Innovation (GPI) group at Texas Global, which works with governments, universities, and industry to train emerging leaders, professionals, and entrepreneurs.
Responsibilities- Provide proactive assistance to facilitate international business deals, with follow-up to assure success.
- Research markets and opportunities in the U.S. for selected client company program technologies.
- Communicate regularly with client company representatives to gather and provide information for business strategies.
- Develop commercialization strategies for GIL client program companies, including tech-transfer and multi-market approaches.
- Promote meetings (virtual and in-person) between potential business partners and client company representatives.
- Attend meetings and assist with negotiations as required.
- Availability to travel, both domestic and international, when required.
- Report on the progress of business leads and agreements to program managers and unit director using business development tools and processes.
- Execute timely business development reports and provide status updates using designated tools and processes.
- Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of seven years of business and marketing experience, including technology validation, market assessment, commercialization, and business development in a multicultural environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and sensitively across cultures.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication.
- Detail-oriented with strong business acumen, political savvy, diplomacy, and ability to collaborate in an open communication environment.
- Experience creating and delivering professional presentations and interacting with senior decision-makers in government, academia, industry, and investment ecosystems.
- Professional demeanor and customer-focused approach.
- Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
- MBA or related advanced degree, or equivalent experience.
- More than the required years of experience, especially in an international setting.
- Proven contract development and negotiation abilities.
- Self-starter with strong project management skills and success managing various international programs.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and conduct business in a language other than English (Korean, Japanese, or Spanish preferred).
