Head of Business Development – Digital Platform Sales About the Company

Our client is a global financial technology company on a mission to make moving and managing money across borders faster, easier, and more affordable. Their platform powers seamless international payments and embedded finance integrations for some of the world's leading banks, digital platforms, and enterprise partners.

About the Role

Business Development for our client's Platform division is a high-impact, full-cycle sales function focused on winning and launching strategic partnerships with enterprise digital platforms across North America. This includes leading complex consultative sales processes, designing commercial structures tailored to partner needs, and working closely with internal product, compliance, and engineering teams to influence the roadmap.

We are expanding the Platform BD function in North America and seeking a leader to continue building the team in this region. This person will work across prospects, their own team, the platform organization, and the wider business to drive revenue and market dominance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of Senior Business Development Managers across the Digital Platforms vertical.
  • Define and execute the North American GTM roadmap, with a focus on Spend Management, Workforce Platforms, Marketplaces, and E-commerce.
  • Own P&L for the vertical, driving hunt-to-close strategy on anchor accounts while maintaining pipeline rigor and forecast accuracy for executive leadership.
  • Serve as executive sponsor on strategic opportunities, navigating 6–12 month sales cycles and building C-suite consensus around clear ROI and risk mitigation.
  • Collaborate closely with Product and Engineering teams to align the NA product roadmap with local market requirements.
  • Oversee outbound strategy and represent the company at key industry events such as Money
    20/20.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience building, leading, and mentoring high-performing BD or enterprise sales teams (4+ members).
  • 10+ years in payments or financial services, with deep knowledge of the North American market.
  • 5+ years of direct experience selling payments, fintech, or embedded finance products, closing enterprise-level deals (>$500k ARR, 6–12 month cycles).
  • Strong commercial acumen with expertise in pipeline management, CRM hygiene, and accurate revenue forecasting.
  • Track record of winning and launching complex, high-impact partnerships with large digital platforms or enterprise clients.
  • Experience managing senior client relationships, setting clear expectations, and coordinating cross-functional teams through complex deal structures.
