Role OverviewThe Director of Supply Chain Strategy is responsible for defining, aligning, and executing long-term supply chain strategies that enable scalable, resilient, and cost-effective manufacturing operations. This role partners closely with operations, engineering, finance, and executive leadership to translate business objectives into actionable supply chain initiatives across sourcing, planning, logistics, and supplier performance.
Key Responsibilities- Strategy & Transformation
- Develop and lead the end-to-end supply chain strategy aligned with company growth, product roadmap, and manufacturing footprint.
- Identify and execute strategic initiatives related to cost reduction, lead-time improvement, risk mitigation, vertical integration, and make/buy decisions.
- Drive supply chain maturity through process standardization, governance, and best-practice adoption.
- Own long-range capacity planning and network strategy (suppliers, manufacturing, distribution).
- Analytics & Decision Support
- Build data-driven models to support strategic decisions (should-cost, total cost of ownership, inventory optimization, scenario planning).
- Establish and track KPIs related to cost, service, resilience, inventory, and supplier performance.
- Partner with finance on budgeting, forecasting, and strategic investment cases.
- Cross-Functional Leadership
- Act as a strategic partner to Manufacturing, Engineering, Program Management, and Product teams.
- Support new product introduction (NPI) strategy, including supplier readiness, ramp planning, and lifecycle management.
- Influence executive decision-making through clear communication of tradeoffs, risks, and opportunities.
- Supplier & Risk Strategy
- Define supplier segmentation and long-term supplier strategy in partnership with procurement and supplier quality.
- Lead supply chain risk assessments and mitigation plans (single-source exposure, geopolitical risk, capacity constraints).
- Support dual-sourcing, localization, and supplier development strategies where appropriate.
- Team & Capability Development
- Build and mentor a high-performing supply chain strategy and analytics capability.
- Establish tools, processes, and frameworks that enable scalable decision-making.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and fact-based execution.
- Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, Business, or related field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in supply chain, manufacturing operations, or strategy roles.
- Demonstrated experience leading strategic initiatives in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into executive-level insights.
- Proven ability to influence across functions without direct authority.
- Preferred
- Master’s degree (MBA, MS Supply Chain, or similar).
- Experience in high-growth, complex, or vertically integrated manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and advanced planning tools.
- Experience with NPI, defense/aerospace, automotive, or industrial manufacturing environments.
