We are hiring a Director of Sales to lead the sales strategy for our upscale hotel – Downright Austin, a Renaissance Hotel located near the University of Texas at Austin and the Texas State Capitol. This 367‑room property features over 40,000 square feet of versatile event space, offering an ideal setting for meetings, conferences, and social gatherings.

As the Director of Sales, you will play a critical role in driving revenue growth by leading a high‑performing sales team, cultivating strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders, and executing strategic sales and marketing plans. We are looking for a sales leader with a passion for coaching and mentoring teams, and a keen ability to identify and secure new business opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, motivate, and develop the sales team to exceed revenue targets.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, local businesses, university contacts, and hotel ownership.
  • Develop and implement innovative strategies to attract group, corporate, leisure, and catering business.
  • Cultivate business travel relationships.
  • Analyze market trends, performance data, and competitor insights to identify opportunities for growth.

    Represent the hotel at industry events, trade shows, and networking functions to increase brand awareness.
  • Deliver weekly and monthly presentations to ownership and executive leadership.
Ideal Candidate
  • Dynamic, hands‑on leader with high energy, who leads by example and inspires from the front, fostering a positive, engaging, and performance‑driven work environment.
  • Proven ability to boost team productivity and deliver measurable results through effective coaching and active engagement.
  • Accountability champion with a history of setting clear performance standards, monitoring team activities, and ensuring consistent follow‑through on goals.
  • Marriott systems expert with deep knowledge and ability to leverage Marriott platforms and tools—including GDS and Consortia programs—to maximize travel opportunities, drive strategic account growth, and increase market share.
  • Sophisticated, data‑driven professional with a proven track record of interpreting complex data and delivering polished, compelling presentations to owners and corporate leadership. Able to develop actionable strategies based on insights.
  • Forecasting and market‑analysis expert with a strong understanding of demand trends to develop strategy.
