Baker Botts, a full‑service, leading international law firm recognized for its understanding of the industries we serve, is seeking an engaged & outgoing business development & marketing professional at a mid‑level career stage to join its Client Development (CD) team as a Client Development Manager supporting its Transactional practices. This hybrid, full‑time, exempt position may be based in the firm’s Houston, Austin, Dallas, Washington, DC or New York offices.
You’ll work closely with the firm’s lawyers, leadership & your Client Development team to develop outstanding presentation pitches & responses to Requests for Proposals, as well as on business development & marketing initiatives for our global Transactional practices (Corporate, Global Projects, & Tax).

- Lead the implementation of strategic business development plans and track and report progress on goals.
- Prepare business development and marketing deliverables including pitch materials, formal RFP responses, brochures, thought leadership pieces, invitations, website content and other bespoke marketing materials.
- Play a key role in supporting our digital infrastructure initiative by identifying potential business development and marketing opportunities in this space and taking decisive action to exploit these opportunities.
- Oversee business development activities and initiatives for our real estate and international trade practices.
- Seek opportunities to enhance content while meeting client needs.
- Prepare survey/award submission responses and compile client references for publications such as Chambers, Legal 500 and Law 360.
- Track transactional experience to leverage for various marketing and business development purposes.
- Plan and execute client seminars and external events related to the promotion of the practices, handling all details through to post‑event wrap‑up.
- Assist with the organization of speaking opportunities and conference sponsor ships and act as a liaison between internal and external stakeholders around attendance and any necessary logistics.
- Collaborate with our competitive intelligence team on the production, analysis and dissemination of detailed client and industry research reports related to initiatives and client meetings.
- Maintain, update, and monitor digital marketing channels, including the firm’s internal website, event email marketing campaigns, ensuring content is engaging, accurate, and timely.
- Coordinate internal communications related to marketing initiatives to ensure attorneys and staff are informed, engaged, and collaborating (event announcements, internal presentations, etc.); promote knowledge sharing across teams and departments.
- Assist with the creation and maintenance of marketing collateral libraries (e.g., presentations, bios, practice descriptions, case studies, templates), ensuring content is current, consistently formatted, and consistent with brand standards.
- Collaborate with attorneys and practice leaders to identify marketing opportunities that reflect the firm’s needs and goals.
