As part of TCEQ’s Office of Water, you would contribute to ensuring clean and available water and protecting Texas’ water resources. See details about what we do.

This position is a member of our Water Supply Division.

HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

Answer phones, conduct receptionist tasks, maintain files; sort and distribute mail; make photocopies and send faxes; track documents and assignments; update databases; schedule meetings for others; review and prepare correspondence, forms, memoranda, training materials, presentations and mail outs while ensuring compliance with Division and Agency correspondence and accessibility requirements; perform customer service functions.

Assist with preparing, reviewing, and tracking basic documents and assignments for travel, purchases, records, and Public Information Request (PIR) to support specialized administrative functions.

Assist with special projects, which may include tracking inventory of supplies and equipment; coordinating surplus and office moves; developing or reviewing standard operating procedures, work instructions, and work processes; and other projects. Maintain agency‑required training.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience using a multi-line telephone system, soft phone system, or working in a call center.
  • Experience writing and/or editing standard operating procedures or similar documents.
  • Experience with State of Texas requirements for travel; purchasing/contract public information requests or record management requirements.
  • Experience tracking documents, projects, budgets, procurements, travel, or assignments.
  • Experience training others on administrative processes.
  • Experience editing, proofreading and/or preparing reports/correspondence.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Graduation from a standard senior high school or its equivalent plus one year of full-time experience providing administrative and/or clerical support in an office setting.

Fifteen semester hours from an accredited college or university may be substituted for each six months of the required experience.

Work Schedule

Standard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m.

- 5:00 p.m. Individual and work group schedule determined by the Water Supply Division.
