PurposeThe Library Assistant provides assistance to patrons in accessing materials in the Library.
Responsibilities- Assist patrons at the library's Circulation Desk and respond to requests made via phone and email. Check materials in and out using the integrated online library system and update patron and bibliographic records.
- Assist with shelving and loose-leaf filing.
- Assist with providing basic computer and technical support services for law students. Refill printer paper as needed. Communicate with library's Tech Desk.
- Open and close the library as required. Monitor facilities and securities issues.
- Participate in special projects.
- Other related responsibilities and functions as assigned.
High school diploma or GED and either library or library-equivalent experience or Library/Information Science coursework. Demonstrated exemplary work record. Evidence of commitment to providing excellent customer service. Professional demeanor. Strong interpersonal skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred QualificationsBachelor's degree. Experience working in libraries.
Salary Range$22,500 - prorated ($45,000 annual)
Working ConditionsMay work around standard office conditions. Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation, use of manual dexterity. Lift and move standard office files and supplies. Wear appropriate office attire; accept supervision. Work hours may include occasional evenings, weekends and some holidays during peak periods to meet deadlines. On-site work is the normal expectation for this position.
Work ShiftSunday through Thursday, 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM. Work schedule will shift throughout the year with the academic schedule of the Law School. All work will be performed onsite.
