The Accountant will support the accounting team by performing daily cash posting activities, maintaining accurate financial records, and assisting with general accounting tasks. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual looking to build a strong foundation in accounting operations, financial reporting, and transactional processes. The successful candidate will contribute to the accuracy and timeliness of our financial records while developing expertise in accounting systems and procedures.
Key Responsibilities Cash Posting & Transaction Processing- Post daily cash receipts and disbursements into operating systems and the general ledger
- Reconcile cash postings to bank statements and internal records
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
- Support the month-end close process by ensuring all cash transactions are accurately recorded
- Assist in preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation
- Maintain organized and accurate financial records in accordance with company policies
- Help prepare schedules and reports for internal management and external auditors
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes as needed
- Assist in updating and maintaining accounting procedures and documentation
- Support the accounting team with ad hoc projects, data clean-up, and process improvement initiatives
- Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments to resolve transaction or documentation issues
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or currently in progress)
- Understanding of basic accounting principles (GAAP preferred)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting or ERP systems
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks effectively
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Internship or related accounting experience
- Willingness to learn and grow within the accounting function
- Interest in developing skills in financial analysis, reporting, and systems
Physical Requirements
- 40-hour work week with flexibility to accommodate business needs
- Must be available to work flexible hours as needed based on business requirements
- Regular verbal and written communication with team members and other departments
- Sitting for extended periods of time at a desk
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other computer components
- Light physical effort required, including handling objects up to 20 pounds occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently
