Senior Accounting & Payroll Specialist – Austin, TX 78757
Experience Level: 5-10 Years
Salary: $80K plus incentive bonuses.
Position Summary: We are seeking a detail‑oriented, experienced Accounting Specialist to manage our payroll processing, billing, accounts payable/receivable, and workers' compensation compliance. This role requires an ability to learn our payroll software, proficiency in Quick Books, and a proactive approach to managing back‑office functions.
Key Responsibilities- Payroll Processing:
Manage full‑cycle, multi‑state payroll for exempt and non‑exempt employees, including deductions, garnishments, benefits, and tax with holdings using systems like ADP or Paychex. - Accounts Payable/Receivable:
Oversee AP, including vendor invoices, expense reports, and ACH payments. Manage AR, including invoicing, aging reports, and bank reconciliations. - Workers’ Compensation & Benefits:
Administer workers' compensation reporting, audit support, and compliance. Reconcile benefits invoicing with payroll deductions. - General Ledger & Reporting:
Perform month‑end closing activities, prepare journal entries, and reconcile payroll‑related accounts to the general ledger. - Compliance & Administration:
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll and tax regulations. Maintain employee records and provide support for internal/external audits.
Skills and Qualifications
- Experience:
5-10 years of proven experience in full‑cycle payroll and general accounting (AP/AR). - Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant field preferred. - Technical
Skills:
Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software (Quick Books). - Compliance Knowledge:
Strong understanding of workers' compensation, payroll tax laws, and GAAP. - Soft Skills:
High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to meet strict deadlines. - Leadership:
Ability to lead a team.
