Summary
The Direct Bill Commission Associate provides accounting support for the research and maintenance of assigned general ledger account balances, ensuring consistent standards related to the Direct Bill (DB) operating functions.
Essential Functions- Record direct bill carrier statements for Life and Health and Property and Casualty companies.
- Retrieve and match Direct Bill commission statements from carriers to payments received.
- Collaborate with internal and external accounting personnel responsible for direct bill activities.
- Review, resolve, and respond to discrepancies related to direct bills with all involved parties, including carriers and internal departments.
- Process direct bill commission return payments to carriers.
- Maintain banking setups for DB electronic activity with carriers (commissions/premiums).

Knowledge,Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Strong ability to review and format data, and resolve data errors.
- Basic accounting knowledge of journal entries, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
- Accurate data entry and math skills, able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers.
- Excellent computer skills, with a strong focus on Excel and all other Microsoft Office products.
- Strong understanding of automated agency management systems, adaptable to new AMS as needed.
- Ability to work within a fast‑paced, changing priority environment.
- Self‑motivated, with the initiative to prioritize and be self‑directed.
- Regular and punctual attendance is required.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, interacting effectively with colleagues and managers at all levels.
- Promote and maintain a team environment, finding accommodating solutions for customers and the Agency.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures while maintaining strict confidentiality.
- 2-4 Years of Accounting experience (or equivalent) with accounts receivable and payable knowledge.
- A High School diploma is required.
- College education in accounting courses or equivalent experience preferred.
- Previous insurance experience preferred.
- Previous experience with EPIC agency management system preferred.
- Fast‑paced, multi‑tasking office environment with periodic high disruption and changing priorities.
- Approximately 80% sedentary work, exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, negligible force frequently.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally.
- Requires operation of a computer workstation, including keyboard and video display.
- All requirements may be modified to reasonably accommodate physical or mental impairment.
