Highly respected boutique commercial litigation law firm is seeking a Staff Accountant. The firm represents institutional investors, bankruptcy trustees, and companies in major financial disputes, often against large financial institutions or corporate executives.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and process client billing in accordance with firm policies and client guidelines (including time entries, trust accounting, and expense reimbursements).
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, including vendor payments and client collections.
  • Utilize Quick Books Online to record transactions, generate reports, and manage cash flow.
  • Perform bank reconciliations, monthly and year‑end closings, and financial reporting.
  • Coordinate with attorneys and support staff to ensure accurate timekeeping and billing entries.
  • Assist with budget preparation, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Support external audits and prepare necessary documentation as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a law firm or legal environment.
  • Hands‑on experience with Quick Books Online and legal billing software.
  • Strong understanding of trust accounting, client billing, and reconciliation procedures.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to collaborate effectively across departments.
