An Accounting Clerk is responsible for responding to guest inquiries, resolving guest billing disputes, performing month‑end duties and preparing daily receivables in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability.
What will I be doing?As an Accounting Clerk, you would be responsible for responding to guest inquiries, resolving guest billing disputes, performing month‑end duties and preparing daily receivables in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability. Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
- Posting charges, invoicing as required by account type, and processing certain accounts such as parking and contract rooms.
- Processing advance deposits, refunds on cancellations, posting daily deposits and other payments including wires and payment reports.
- Handling all questions and concerns related to charges, conducting thorough research to develop effective solutions and negotiate results.
- Processing adjusting entries to update or correct guest billing questions and disputes.
- Assisting in resolving outstanding balances with direct bill and collections accounts, gathering the appropriate backup needed.
- Receiving and maintaining credit applications. High degree of data input and organizing daily paperwork.
- Verifying and maintaining high balance reports.
- Working with Sales/Events and clients to ensure billing timeliness and accuracy.
- Assisting in implementing Accounts Receivable policies and procedures, maintaining compliance with company policies and standards.
- Weekly review and documentation of Accounts Receivable aged balances.
- Assisting in monthly cash audits, journal entries, and Accounts Payable/Receivable functions. Strong interpersonal skills working with multiple departments.
Ability to access and accurately input information into computers. Strong knowledge of Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong communication skills between guest, team members, and management.
- Knowledge of accounting principles.
- Must have ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Ability to effectively deal with guest concerns and team members in a friendly and positive manner.
- Additional job duties and projects as assigned or requested.
- Experience with OnQ is a plus. Ability to handle guests via telephone, complete telephone request forms and send correspondence/folios to guests (email, fax, mail, etc.).
