Position Summary:

The General Ledger Accountant is responsible for assigned accounting functions and processes within the Finance Department. This position plays a key role in performing general accounting tasks, particularly in support of month-end and year-end close activities. Additionally, the role may provide backup support to the Accounts Payable team for invoice processing. This position reports to the Assistant Controller.

The firm has one available position in either Austin, TX;
Dover, OH; or Long Beach, CA. Some positions at Novogradac may be open to remote or hybrid work arrangements depending on business needs. Please discuss available options with your recruiter.

• Perform month-end and year-end account closing activities and account reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly journal entries and accruals.
• Perform analysis for various general ledger accounts.
• Review bank and credit card statement activity for discrepancies.
• Provide backup and support to various functions within the Finance Department, including assisting the Accounts Payable team with invoice processing as needed. The time dedicated to these tasks will vary, though they will not be a primary responsibility.
• Respond to and prepare ad hoc reports and any other request by management.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

• Display strong analytical skills, including the ability to gather information, conduct analyses, present findings, and create solutions.
• Sound understanding of financial concepts and ability to calculate figures and amounts for financial statements.
• Superior organizational and follow-through skills, performing work accurately with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to meet deadlines and effectively prioritize a fast-paced and varied workload, effectively manage a variety of concurrent and shifting priorities.
• Strong computer skills, including solid skills in the Microsoft Office suite, in particular with Excel, as well as experience using accounting software systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance in related area plus 1-3 years of relevant accounting experience. Prior experience working in a professional services firm and/or a CPA license is a plus.
