Job Description
We are seeking an instructor dedicated to excellence in teaching who desires to make a difference in the lives of our students. This teaching assignment is located on the Austin Campus. The instructor will be assigned to teach in a traditional classroom and lab format.
Activities related to comprehensive community college teaching and learning, including but not limited to:
- Instructional planning and delivery.
- Teaching and facilitating student learning.
- Curriculum planning and development.
- Assessment of student performance.
- Classroom management.
- Maintenance of professional skills and credentials.
- Participation in department meetings, coordination activities, and college-wide committees
The candidate must be able to work cooperatively with faculty and staff, demonstrate knowledge of and experience in assessing student learning outcomes, participate in department meetings and college-wide committees, and maintain ongoing professional development activities.
Salary RangeCommensurate with experience and education
Education Requirement- Bachelor’s degree in any field
- Associate's (or higher) degree in sonography
- Three full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid clinical work experience as a diagnostic medical sonographer.
- One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
- National certification by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
- Training that must be completed within six semesters of hire:
- In accordance with Board Procedure 3.32.1, Part 8, faculty hired into unlimited positions have 6 full semesters to complete the Teaching and Learning Competency Requirements. These seven courses are provided to new faculty, at no cost, through the Minnesota State Network for Educational Development. Faculty members can take these courses one of three ways: asynchronous online, hybrid 2-weekend intensive, and weeklong intensive.
- Some courses may be waived for individuals who at the time of hire have: a degree in education, or have documented evidence of successful completion of equivalent coursework in the specified teaching and learning content areas, or have three years of successful, full-time (or equivalent) secondary, postsecondary, industry, or trade apprenticeship teaching experience in the field for which they are being hired.
Qualification
- Master’s degree
- Experience teaching/tutoring.
- Experience with data collection and continuous improvement analysis.
- Experience with simulation, sonography skills, clinical instruction, and lecture (curriculum) development.
- Supervisory experience.
- Bilingual/multilingual fluent in Spanish, Karen, Karenni, Somali, Pohnpeian, French, Nuer, Anuak, or other languages that reflect our student body, workforce, and communities.
- Demonstrated experience working with multicultural and underserved populations.
