Position SummaryPosition Summary: The Quality Technician ensures that product conforms to all customer expectations through documented inspection and testing procedures utilizing precision measuring/testing equipment and accurately interpreting specifications and blueprint GD&T requirements. This position requires the ability to develop procedures and write clear work instructions and inspection plans. This may also include preparation of PPAP documentation and other PPAP support activities such as dimensional layouts, gage verification, data analysis, material certification review, and maintaining traceability.
In collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, and quality leadership, the Quality Technician participates in process improvement activities to optimize efficiencies and improve product quality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following, as well as other duties that may be assigned.
- Establish an understanding of customer product requirements.
- Perform testing and inspection on incoming materials from vendors and outgoing product shipping to customers.
- Read and interpret blueprints and drawings with an understanding of GD&T.
- Interpret specifications and other technical industry and customer documentation.
- Maintain calibration records for measuring devices and equipment.
- Perform process capability studies, including obtaining and analyzing data using statistical methods.
- Take quick action when a nonconformance is detected.
- Utilize ERP system to perform effective containment activities.
- Perform root cause analysis and develop permanent corrective actions.
- Access customer portals for documentation and data submittals.
- Support Quality Control incoming, in-process, and final inspection needs.
- Ensure all internal and customer requirements are met prior to product release.
- Support certification and customer audits.
- Perform Internal Audits.
- Establish collaborative working relationships with customers, vendors, and all internal departments.
- Multitask - manage several projects at once.
- Present data and other information in an organized and appropriate manner
Minimum Qualifications: To perform the job successfully, the individual must have the following minimum qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Ability to read and interpret drawing/blueprints/schematics
- Experience conducting and/or preparing for audits
- Understanding of the AS9100 or ISO
9001 standard - Developing and maintaining effective customer relationships
- Proficiency in standard office and database programs/equipment
Education and Experience: Required and preferred educational and experiential qualifications
- Associate degree in Engineering/Manufacturing Technology or other relevant technical field
- 3 years QA or QC experience in a manufacturing environment
- Metrology experience
- Experience interacting with customers
