Core Responsibilities:

  • Exemplary Nursing Practice:
    • Perform full Nursing Process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care using evidence-based practice.
    • Deliver individualized, culturally sensitive, relationship-based care reflecting patient-specific needs and goals.
    • Partner closely with patients and their families, utilizing effective communication and collaboration methods (e.g., bedside report, interdisciplinary rounds).
    • Maintain adherence to professional nursing standards, regulatory requirements, and Wellstar policies.
  • Teamwork & Collaboration:
    • Coordinate safe, high-quality patient care within a professional care delivery model.
    • Ensure accurate and timely documentation and foster a respectful, inclusive clinical environment.
    • Collaborate responsibly to promote efficient use of resources and support recruitment and retention of healthcare team members.
    • Engage in performance improvement projects and contribute to research and shared governance initiatives.
  • Professional Development & Leadership:
    • Complete mandatory education and competency assessments regularly.
    • Serve as preceptors or mentors to new nurses, staff, and students, cultivating a qualified workforce.
    • Embody professional nursing values and contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Evidence-Based Practice & Research:
    • Promote and participate in nursing research and quality improvement initiatives.
    • Evaluate patient care products/services through value analysis and integrate findings into practice.
    • Uphold organizational safety goals and regulatory standards (e.g., TJC Patient Safety Goals).
    • Consult experts and data resources to improve nursing practice.
  • Resource Management & Care Planning:
    • Proactively plan and coordinate patient care across healthcare settings for optimal outcomes.
    • Participate in developing and revising clinical protocols to reduce adverse events, readmissions, and inefficiencies.
    • Optimize human and material resource usage.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned while adhering to Wellstar policies and conduct standards.

Qualifications:

  • Education:

    Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN preferred) from accredited institutions.
  • Licensure:
    Active RN license (single state or multi-state compact) and current BLS certification (or instructor level).
  • Experience:

    Typically requires 2 to 5+ years of direct patient care nursing experience depending on specialty.
  • Skills:
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
    • Proficiency using healthcare technology and basic computer applications.
    • Effective interpersonal, time management, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
    • Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced, high-stress, or emergency scenarios.
