Supports FMCNA's mission, vision, core values and customer service philosophy. Takes part in hemodialysis health care team, providing safe and effective therapy under direct supervision of a registered nurse.
Duties / Activities Customer Service- Drive FMCNA culture through values and customer service standards.
- Provide outstanding service to internal and external customers.
- Maintain effective relationships through timely communication.
- Respond, resolve, and follow up on customer service issues promptly.
- Provide direct patient care for assigned patients.
- Perform technical aspects of dialysis procedures and administer treatments.
- Document dialysis parameters and patient records.
- Report significant information or equipment problems.
- Educate patients and families on dialysis, diet, medications.
- Assist with emergency procedures and administer intravenous medications.
- Conduct pre, interim, and post-treatment reviews; initiate CPR when needed.
- Operate dialysis equipment safely and troubleshoot minor issues.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment.
- Address blood spills per FMCNA Bloodborne Pathogen Control Policies.
- Operate emergency equipment following standard procedures.
- Participate in staff meetings and patient care plan discussions.
- Pursue continuing education in dialysis practices.
- Act as a resource for staff and coordinate care with Physicians, Dietitians, and Social Workers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Desk and computer work, patient interaction, heavy lifting, standing, bending, moving machines up to 200 lbs. Requires driving between facilities. Exposure to infectious materials in a health care environment.
Education- Graduate of an accredited School of Practical Nursing (LPN, LVN).
- Current state licensure.
- One year medical-surgical nursing experience preferred.
- Hemodialysis experience preferred.
- ICU experience preferred.
- Completion of training in theory and practice of hemodialysis.
- CPR certification required.
- Must complete Nurses Technical Training Program upon hire.
- Availability for coverage during short-staffing.
- Must pass Ishihara's Color Blindness test.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
