Role OverviewWe are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Word Press Developer to support the design, development, and maintenance of our website and digital presence. This volunteer role focuses on building and optimizing a user-friendly, accessible, and visually engaging Word Press website that effectively communicates our mission, programs, events, and impact. You will collaborate closely with marketing, content, design, and leadership teams to ensure the website reflects our brand and supports community engagement, fundraising, and educational initiatives.
Commitment15–20 hours per week
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and maintain Word Press website pages and features.
- Customize themes and plugins to meet organizational needs.
- Ensure website responsiveness, accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility.
- Optimize website performance, speed, and SEO best practices.
- Integrate third-party tools such as donation platforms, event registrations, newsletters, and multimedia content.
- Implement security best practices and maintain regular updates and backups.
- Collaborate with designers to translate visual concepts into functional web pages.
- Troubleshoot bugs, technical issues, and site performance concerns.
- Maintain documentation for website structure, plugins, and workflows.
- Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining Word Press websites.
- Proficiency in HTML, CSS, PHP, and basic JavaScript.
- Experience customizing themes and working with popular page builders (e.g., Elementor, WPBakery, or similar).
- Understanding of SEO, website optimization, and performance best practices.
- Knowledge of website security, backups, and maintenance procedures.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate within a remote, volunteer-based team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Passion for mission-driven, educational, or nonprofit work is highly valued.
- Real-world experience building and managing a nonprofit website.
- Portfolio-ready work showcasing full-site development and feature integrations.
- Collaboration with interdisciplinary creative and leadership teams.
- Experience supporting digital engagement and fundraising initiatives.
