What You Will Be Doing:As a Staff Accountant, you will work with operations personnel to understand their business in order to effectively review their income statement for accuracy and completeness. You should have a thorough knowledge of GAAP and full cycle accounting to work int he heavy equipment industry. Strong analytical, relational, and system skills are required as well.
Primary Responsibilities:- Accounting department liaison for multiple departments – includes working closely with operations personnel to understand their business in order to effectively review their income statement for accuracy and completeness, preparation of ad hoc reports and assistance with researching financial statement issues as requested
- Financial statement preparation – internal and external financials, dashboard and key statistic reports
- Account reconciliations – daily and monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, correcting journal entries, preparation of supporting work papers for auditors
- Financial analysis – Perform financial analysis for area(s) of responsibility and communicate findings timely and effectively to operational management
- Participate in required safety program, and work in a safe manner.
- Additional duties as assigned by manager.
To be successful in this position you should have prior experience in full cycle accounting. You should possess a thorough knowledge of GAAP and cost of sale accounting. Advanced skill in MS Excel and attention to detail are essential to this position as well.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting from four-year college or university.
- CPA preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in full cycle accounting and financial statement preparation / analysis with stable work history.
Required Qualifications /
Skills:
- Thorough knowledge of GAAP and cost of sale accounting
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Effective communication and interaction with non-financial management
- Advanced skill in MS Excel required
