Position Summary
The Material Technician plays a key role in supporting production operations by preparing, staging, and supplying raw materials, maintaining equipment, and ensuring uninterrupted workflow. This position requires attention to detail, adherence to safety and quality standards, and the ability to support operators and supervisors in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Pay: $17/hr.
- $18/hr., $1.50 Shift Premium
Shift: 2nd, 3:15pm - 11:45pm
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and load materials into machines in accordance with Bill of Materials (BOM) and work instructions.
- Accurately mix materials, weigh and seal containers, and supply appropriate shipping materials and labels.
- Maintain continuous production flow by assisting operators, prepping materials for current and upcoming shifts, and transporting completed skids to the warehouse.
- Clean, inspect, and maintain auxiliary and material handling equipment (e.g., dryers, loaders, grinders, conveyors).
- Perform routine moisture checks and maintain filter systems.
- Record accurate inventory transactions and production data using the IQMS system.
- Generate labels and reports through the IQMS platform; access BOM, material locations, blend creation, and part numbers.
- Assist with operator breaks as directed by the Shift Supervisor.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area and warehouse according to 5S and safety standards.
- Execute proper set-up and tear-down procedures for materials and equipment.
- Perform weekly cycle counts and report discrepancies.
- Exercise the authority to stop production or shipment if quality issues are identified.
- Uphold assigned SPA (Single Point of Accountability) responsibilities.
- Support and ensure adherence to all safety, quality, and operational procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 3 months of relevant experience in a manufacturing or production environment preferred.
- Basic computer literacy and experience with data entry systems (IQMS experience preferred).
- Ability to read and interpret work instructions, safety rules, maintenance procedures, and reports.
- Strong mathematical skills, including basic arithmetic and understanding of percentages, ratios, and charts.
- Forklift operation experience and ability to maintain a valid industrial forklift license.
- Knowledge of injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment strongly preferred.
- Ability to work extended hours, holidays, and swing shifts as required.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach regularly.
- Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds safely.
- Requires visual acuity (close, peripheral, depth perception) correctable to at least 20/30.
