Position: Chemical Treat Operator - 1st Shift

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Chemical Treat Operator
, based on production schedules, will identify, move and prepare raw materials using vertical and horizontal band saws. Set up the chemical treatment vessel and ovens for materials by loading, unloading, and operating the chemical treatment equipment.

Some of the Essential Functions/Requirements include (for full job description, see attachment):

  • Accurately read and follow production schedules by reviewing work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, material specifications, and locations.
  • Properly set up and operate vertical and horizontal band saw equipment to produce high quality parts within acceptable time and quality standards. Perform routing operations through repetition.
  • Correctly document and communicate actions taken, including:
    • Work orders processed and materials used.
    • Irregularities in materials.
    • Operational obstacles that prohibit maximum capacity.
  • Safely and efficiently handle raw material by:
    • Loading and lifting stock into position manually or with hoist.
    • Verifying setting by measuring positions.
    • Identifying proper treatment sequence based on work orders for each job.
    • Unpacking and inspecting internal and customer supplied products prior to and after treatment.
  • Regularly monitor chemical treat equipment and regulate accordingly, adjusting valves and controls to maintain system temperature, pressure and vacuum levels.
  • Observe and record chemical reactions by monitoring gauges and signals, and make specified adjustments, as needed.
  • Perform regular chemical tests on products to ensure conformance with specifications using standard test equipment, materials and procedures.
  • Strictly adhere to Quality Control procedures, including:
    • Clearly labeling all materials.
    • Inspecting first-run parts and sample work pieces to ensure accordance with prints, schematics, machining SOPs (standard operating procedures), and international standards.
    • Accurately completing maintenance logs.
    • NOX sampling.
  • Maintain safe and continuous equipment operability, by:
    • Properly operating equipment according to manufacturer instructions.
    • Promptly completing all preventive maintenance requirements outlined by the product manual and maintenance logs.
    • Assisting Engineers and maintenance personnel with troubleshooting malfunctions.
    • Replacing worn tools and parts.
    • Promptly reporting issues and malfunctions to supervision and maintenance.
  • Perform complicated machine operations under the guidance of a supervisor.
Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalency, preferred.
  • Experience using saws and working in a manufacturing environment, a plus.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Technical Skills. Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches. Ability to learn about and apply technical products to various industrial manufacturing processes. Ability to use and interpret dimensional measuring tools (tape measure) or equipment. Strong mechanical aptitude. Proficient math skills, and ability to perform simple calculations involving fractions and decimals. Ability to identify and implement improvements. Ability to use hoists, hand and machine operated tools, and other instruments with manual precision and dexterity.

    Ability to obtain and maintain industrial equipment certification(s) (e.g., forklift, tow motor, etc.).
