Grocery Clerk

Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals established for the department and monitor all established quality assurance standards. Responsibilities:

• Help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
• Inform customers of food specials and recommend grocery items to ensure they get what they want and need.
• Check product quality to ensure freshness, review "sell by" dates, and take appropriate action.
• Provide customers with ordered fresh and non-perishable grocery products.
• Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines, including maintaining proper temperatures and logs.
• Gain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to customer questions with suggestions.
• Create a welcoming environment for customers, making them feel important and appreciated.
• Follow safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management.
• Inspect equipment regularly and notify management of repairs needed.
• Manage conflicts in a reasonable and cooperative manner.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Support and assist diverse customer needs, including minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.

Qualifications:

• Customer service skills
• Effective communication skills
• Basic math knowledge (counting, addition, subtraction)
