Company Overview
Syndeio Bio is a synapse-focused biotechnology company pioneering a new class of therapies for neuropsychiatric and cognitive disorders. Our research integrates in vitro / in vivo electrophysiology, behavioral neuroscience, and molecular biology to elucidate synaptic and circuit-level mechanisms underlying brain function and disease. We offer a collaborative, fast-paced research environment with strong opportunities for technical growth and meaningful scientific contribution.
Position SummaryWe are seeking two highly motivated Research Associates or Entry-Level Scientists to support our in vivo neuroscience research program. The successful candidate(s) will conduct in vivo electrophysiological recordings in freely moving rat or mouse models and contribute across multiple stages of experimental execution. Responsibilities include small‑animal neurosurgical procedures, animal care, electrophysiological data acquisition and analysis, and tissue processing.
This position is ideal for candidates with hands‑on laboratory experience who are eager to build a strong foundation in in vivo neuroscience and translational research.
Key Responsibilities- Perform rodent survival surgeries, including electrode implantation and post-operative monitoring
- Conduct in vivo electrophysiological recordings (e.g., field EPSPs, EEG, and/or single‑unit recordings)
- Manage animal care, behavioral monitoring, and experimental preparation in compliance with IACUC protocols
- Perform electrophysiological data acquisition, processing, and basic quantitative analysis
- Conduct tissue dissection, sample preparation, and support downstream analyses
- Maintain accurate experimental records and organize datasets
- Collaborate with scientists to optimize experimental protocols and troubleshoot technical challenges
- Contribute to laboratory organization, equipment maintenance, and inventory management
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Neuroscience, Biology, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field. Level will be determined by experience (e.g., Master’s with 2+ years or Bachelor’s with 5+ years of relevant experience)
- Practical experience with stereotaxic surgery techniques and/or EEG recording
- Hands‑on experience conducting rodent research, including animal handling and compound administration
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow experimental protocols
- Willingness to learn in vivo electrophysiological techniques
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team‑based environment
- Prior experience with electrophysiological recordings
- Experience performing rodent neurosurgical procedures
- Experience with animal models of neuropsychiatric disorders
- Familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., Sci Works, Brain Vision, pCLAMP, MATLAB)
- Molecular biology or biochemical experience (e.g., Western blot, qPCR, ELISA, immunohistochemistry)
- Interest in neuroscience drug discovery or translational research
