Production Manager, Manufacturing Production
Rochester Midland Corporation (RMC) is a manufacturer of specialty chemicals serving food safety, healthcare, and industrial markets. We are seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to lead operations at our Aurora, Illinois facility.
This is a hands‑on, floor‑based leadership role responsible for driving a Safety First culture, maintaining disciplined and efficient operations, and partnering closely with Supply Chain to meet customer demand.
The Production Supervisor is a highly visible leader in the plant and sets the tone for safety, accountability, and execution.
Primary Responsibilities Safety & Compliance- Lead daily safety meetings and reinforce safe behaviors every shift
- Ensure required safety and compliance training is completed on time
- Enforce adherence to SOPs and safe operating procedures
- Identify and eliminate unsafe conditions and behaviors
- Maintain an organized, audit‑ready production environment
- Plan, coordinate, and direct daily production activities
- Partner with Supply Chain, Quality, and Warehouse teams to ensure reliable output and consistent communication
- Close finished batches and investigate packaging discrepancies
- Maintain accurate inventory through cycle counts and system transactions
- Oversee raw material and finished goods movement, including put‑away and late inbound receipts
- Balance quality, productivity, cost, safety, and morale
- Supervise assigned production and facility personnel
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, and training
- Conduct performance reviews and recommend corrective actions when necessary
- Approve timecards and PTO
- Develop a culture of accountability and teamwork
- 5+ years in a manufacturing or distribution environment
- 3+ years of supervisory experience
- Experience with ERP systems and inventory processes required
- Chemical manufacturing experience preferred
- Experience with liquid blending, small packaging, filling lines preferred
- Working knowledge of Vicinity, Microsoft GP, or similar ERP systems
- Forklift certification required;
Train‑the‑Trainer experience preferred - Leadership or management training required
This role operates primarily on the production floor in a chemical manufacturing setting. The position requires standing, walking, lifting, and active engagement with production operations throughout the shift.
