DescriptionThe City of Aurora is accepting applications to establish an eligibility list for full-time and part-time Kennel Maintenance Worker in the Division of Animal Control.
Under direct supervision, maintains the cleanliness and security of the City of Aurora Animal Control Facility. Performs custodial duties, helps in animal reclaim and adoption procedures and assists Animal Control Officers as required.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Performs a variety of cleaning duties including but not limited to dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, cleaning and waxing floors, cleaning cages, washroom fixtures, washing windows and emptying trash;
Feeds and cares for animals within shelter on a daily basis;
Performs euthanasia as necessary;
Assists with animal reclaims and adoptions including required paperwork;
Maintains adequate inventory of supplies ordering as necessary to ensure availability;
Performs routine unskilled maintenance duties, changes light bulbs, makes minor repairs to buildings and equipment;
Performs building security duties ensuring that lights are shut off, doors are locked, alarms activated, etc.;
Assists Animal Control Officers when necessary including filling in for vacation, illness, etc.;
Performs other duties as required or assigned within the scope of the essential functions of the job.
This position requires a high school diploma or GED. Requires possession of a valid driver's license. Experience with animal care desired.
Must successfully pass pre-hire requirements including but not limited to a written exam, drug screen, physical, and background check.
This is a union represented position. The hours of the position will vary and may be part-time or full-time depending on the vacancy.
Beginning hourly pay for full-time is $26.10/hr., after 6 months $26.69/hr., after 1 year $27.60/hr., and annual increases thereafter.
Beginning hourly pay for part-time is $26.10/hr. and will receive a pay increase to $26.69/hr. after 1 year, and annual increases thereafter.
