Title Public Health Associate (Grant-funded for the Nurse Family Partnership program)
The purpose of this role is to promote and support population health by performing clerical and clinical procedures and tasks that are specialized and/or technical in nature, and are performed under limited supervision. The responsibilities of the classification include performing paraprofessional-level health care assistance duties in out-patient, ambulatory care, home and community settings. Incumbents are responsible for assisting Registered Nurses in providing health care services to patients, performing administrative support duties, and performing outreach activities.
As part of these duties, the incumbents provide medical interpretation (English/Spanish) to individuals clients and their family members. This position is currently needed for the Kane Kares maternal-child home visitation program.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required:
Associate Degree preferred. - Bilingual English/Spanish required. Certification in medical interpretation preferred.
- Proficiency in use of computer programs: email, word processing, presentation software, CANVA and data entry.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrates organizational and time-management skills
- Empathy, cultural competence, and a client-centered approach
- Valid Illinois driver's license, current certificate of vehicle insurance, and access to reliable transportation to all assigned work locations.
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends required
