Construction Engineer
Job Description
As a Construction Engineer, you will be responsible for interpreting and understanding all contract documents, including plans, standard drawings, contractor shop drawings, specifications, and project provisions. You will conduct daily inspections of construction activities to ensure compliance with contract requirements and monitor materials installed by contractors to meet specifications and certification standards.
Your role also involves maintaining accurate daily documentation of all contractor work and reviewing contractor shop drawing submittals for compliance with project requirements.
Responsibilities
+ Conduct daily inspections of construction activities to verify compliance with contract requirements.
+ Monitor materials installed by contractors to ensure they meet specifications and certification standards.
+ Maintain accurate daily documentation of all contractor work in accordance with client standards.
+ Review contractor shop drawing submittals for compliance with project requirements.
+ Assist with survey layout and perform horizontal and vertical field checks using total station, GPS, or transit level.
+ Oversee contractor-installed Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) on a daily basis.
+ Communicate regularly with the assigned Project Manager and project team.
+ Visit and safely navigate construction sites while adhering to all safety regulations.
+ Be available for occasional evening, night, or weekend work as needed.
+ Perform additional duties as assigned by Project Managers or leadership.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in civil engineering and construction inspection.
+
Experience with IDOT, tollway, municipal projects.
+ Strong project documentation and record-keeping skills.
+ Familiarity with construction oversight and material inspection.
+ Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
+ Minimum of 3 years of experience in relevant fields.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
+ Valid U.S. driver's license.
+ Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

+ Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and work independently when needed.
+ Excellent communication skills.
Work Environment
The role is based in the Aurora office, reporting to the operations manager and project managers. The company has 40 employees, with 20 in the municipal group and 10 on the construction team. You will work in the field on one project at a time, reporting from the field office. A company car and laptop are provided, with the car available for personal use on weekends, provided mileage is tracked for personal trips.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
