Overview
Position:
Department Chair and Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Aurora University. This is a 12-month academic appointment beginning in fall 2026. The successful candidate will oversee and lead undergraduate and graduate computer science programs, as well as the undergraduate cybersecurity program, ensuring curriculum excellence and program growth. The role includes teaching responsibilities and opportunities to teach graduate courses, with a focus on shaping the future of technology education and student outcomes.
- Teach undergraduate courses (and opportunities to teach graduate courses) spanning areas such as introduction to programming, data structures and algorithms, object-oriented design and development, database design and implementation, and programming languages.
- Oversee student internship experiences and engage in professional activity and service projects that strengthen the university community.
- Lead the department by setting vision and direction, including strategic planning, resource allocation, and ensuring effective operation.
- Mentor and evaluate faculty members, fostering professional growth and ensuring high-quality teaching.
- Lead computer science and cybersecurity curriculum development, ensure programs are relevant to students and industry, and provide pathways for transfer students; oversee assessment planning and reporting.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with other academic units, external organizations, and the broader community; participate in meetings with prospective students and families.
- Fulfill typical teaching load (faculty typically teach three courses per semester) and pursue opportunities for service and professional development.
Job Requirements Education
Earned terminal degree in the field, or a master’s degree with extensive work experience. Doctorally prepared candidates are preferred; ABD candidates will be considered. Current certifications related to the field and prior teaching experience are encouraged.
ExperienceIndustry experience and teaching experience are preferred. Ability to work with and mentor students at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

Physical RequirementsAbility to interact with individuals in person or via technology; capable of being physically present in class and during office hours.

The base pay range is $/year to $/year. The pay range referenced in the job posting is the budgeted amount the university reasonably expects to pay for this position; final pay rate will be below the lowest pay rate listed herein if applicable.
