Join Our Team as a Locum Physician - General Medicine in Houston, TX
Are you a dedicated General Medicine physician seeking flexible, impactful work that serves Veterans and the community? This is a compelling opportunity to provide essential health evaluations on a PRN basis, offering both professional fulfillment and excellent compensation in a supportive environment. As a key provider, your expertise will directly contribute to Veterans’ wellbeing and uphold critical government health services.
Required Skills:
Medical license valid for practicing in Texas
Certification in family medicine, internal medicine, or related specialties
Experience in general medicine, physical assessments, and interview-based evaluations
Strong communication skills and attention to detail
Ability to perform non-treatment exams, such as Compensation & Pension assessments and Separation Health Assessments
Nice to Have
Skills:
Background in occupational health or disability evaluations
Prior experience with veterans’ healthcare or government contracts
Familiarity with physical assessment procedures like range of motion and muscle strength testing
Preferred
Education and Experience:
MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
Minimum of 2 years clinical experience in family or internal medicine
Prior experience conducting compensation and pension exams or related assessments is advantageous
Other Requirements:
Must have own office space for conducting evaluations
Willingness to work on a PRN basis, including partial (4-hour) or full-day (8-hour) shifts
Local candidates only—travel included in pay rates
Certification and licensure reimbursements are not provided; all required certifications must be current
Reliable internet and computer equipment for administrative tasks
Ability to commit to ongoing training and administrative follow-up
This role offers a competitive hourly pay rate of $624.00 with options for flat rate payments of $800 for half-day shifts or $1,600 for full-day shifts, including travel. You'll also receive comprehensive medical benefits, weekly pay via direct deposit, paid sick leave, and a robust support team throughout your assignment. A one-time bonus of $650 is awarded upon successful completion of training and initial exams.
