Senior Accountant
Location: Aurora, IL (On-Site)
Compensation: $80-100k DOE
Our client, a confidential and well-established organization, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their on-site accounting team in Aurora, IL
. This role plays a key part in maintaining the integrity of financial reporting, supporting month‑end close, and driving accurate, GAAP‑compliant accounting across multiple locations. The ideal candidate is hands‑on, detail‑oriented, and eager to contribute to process improvements in a collaborative environment.
- Prepare and post journal entries with accuracy and timeliness across multiple locations
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies
- Support monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close processes
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation entries
- Assist with physical inventory counts, cost accounting, and variance analysis
- Review and maintain the corporate credit card and travel & expense programs
- Manage intercompany transactions, trial balances, and reconciliations
- Partner with offshore accounting teams to review work and streamline processes
- Review internal financial statements and prepare supporting schedules
- Assist with variance analysis and provide insights to management
- Support budgeting and forecasting efforts using historical trends
- Collaborate with FP&A and cross‑functional teams to ensure accurate reporting
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
- Provide support for audits, tax preparation, and corporate requests
- Maintain documentation for accounting procedures and internal controls
- Identify opportunities for automation and increased efficiency
- Participate in system upgrades, implementations, and testing
- Provide guidance and training to junior accounting staff
- Partner with HR, Operations, and other departments on financial matters
- Support special projects and ad‑hoc reporting
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
- Advanced Excel skills (formulas, data analysis, automation)
- Highly analytical, organized, and detail‑oriented
- Strong communication skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Team-oriented with a proactive, problem‑solving mindset
- Stable, established organization with multi‑location exposure
