Job Summary:

The CDL Driver will be responsible for transporting heavy machinery, barricades, and other materials needed at various job sites throughout the area and must be willing to work on a crew assisting in construction activities.

Job Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):
  • Prepares & inspects truck and machinery daily, includes but not limited to: checking oil, fueling, greasing, preventative maintenance, cleaning trailer, stocking with supplies, emptying garbage, checking lights on trailer, running through the maintenance check list daily.
  • Organizes and oversees inventory of tools and daily preparation of truck and machinery.
  • Conducts a DVIR mandatory safety check daily.
  • Maintains a flatbed trailer. Loads equipment and materials to maximize loading capacity (within legal limits) on trailers to minimize repeat trips and fuel consumption.
  • Delivers machinery and material in a timely manner allowing crews to go to work immediately.
  • Watches for unsafe conditions and takes steps to alleviate or head off the situation.
  • Determines the safest and fastest routes to take to get product and to deliver equipment and material.
  • Hauls dirt to and from job sites.
  • Organizes and completes paperwork daily (timecards, logs, DVIR, and equipment checks, etc.)
  • Maintains a complete tool set, assuring that tools are clean and inventoried at all times.
  • Can identify hazards and problems on equipment and on the moving, loading, and unloading of equipment.
  • Reports to the dispatcher for verification of location, next job assignment, etc.
  • Attends safety and other department meetings.
  • Assists in other tasks and other crews as needed.
Required Skills &

Qualifications:

General
  • Must be familiar with rules and regulations of the highways pertaining to heavy equipment moving and heavy truck operations.
  • Ability to do physical work and digging.
  • Ability to use basic math skills to compute weights, time cards, billings, etc.
  • Ability to do detailed work and work accurately, especially with numbers.
  • Ability to operate & drive the Transport.
  • Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, employees, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Daily and exemplary attendance and punctuality is required for this position. The work may require overtime hours to be worked to achieve desired results.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Must be able and willing to work outdoors, subject to inclement weather conditions
  • Must be able to maintain visual and audible contact with other crewman and all moving or stationary persons/vehicles/objects to ensure safe coordination of movement
  • Must be able to work around heavy equipment and machinery
  • Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time
  • Must be able to bend, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting
  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit or be in other physically demanding positions for long periods of time
  • Must be able to work while wearing safety boots, safety glasses, hardhat, and any applicable safety gear

  • OSHA 10
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
