Security Officer Lead
University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus – Police Department (Campus security, Aurora, CO). Position : # (Requisition #39116). Onsite work. Full‑time, 24/7 coverage, rotating shifts as needed.
DescriptionThe Security Officer Lead leads a team of Security Officers I‑III and ensures campus safety for students, faculty, staff, visitors, and property. Responsibilities include patrolling, emergency response, incident reporting, risk assessment, first aid, crowd control, and maintaining security systems and equipment.
Responsibilities- Patrol the campus by vehicle, bicycle, and on foot.
- Inspect and secure physical barriers, gates, fences, and locks.
- Provide assistance and escorts after dark.
- Respond to emergencies (fires, medical incidents, security breaches); operate fire alarm systems and extinguishers.
- Resolve conflicts and enforce parking and traffic regulations.
- Prepare detailed incident reports for non‑criminal incidents, property crimes, and accidents.
- Operate security systems (CAD, surveillance cameras, live video).
- Manage crowds during events, using crowd‑control techniques.
- Conduct risk assessments for fire hazards, physical environment, and crime opportunities.
- Administer basic first aid when needed.
- Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Lead and train security staff, collaborate with the department head, and monitor staffing levels.
- Four (4) years of experience in a security officer position or similar.
- Valid Colorado driver’s license with no more than 12 points in the last 5 years.
- Colorado residency at time of application.
- Proficiency with Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and surveillance equipment.
- Basic first aid, CPR, and knowledge of hazardous materials.
- Proficient with MS Office and basic computer use.
- Ability to monitor surroundings and recognize irregularities.
- Strong communication, customer‑service, and problem‑solving skills.
- Experience as a security officer in higher education.
- CU Systems experience and knowledge of CU security policies.
- Advanced troubleshooting and leadership skills.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and stay over late as required.

$4,671 – $5,792 per month. Overtime compensation available. Pay may be higher for existing state‑classified service under the Step Pay Program.
