Job SummaryThe Department of Pathology is seeking an Entry Research Services Professional (RSEP) focused on supporting laboratory maintenance, upkeep, and logistics. The RSEP will also support research related to the molecular biology of breast and gynecologic cancers and manage the daily operation of the laboratory, including reagent stocking, equipment maintenance, regulatory compliance, and database management. The role will include vivarium-based research, animal care, and support for molecular biology studies using tissue culture and cell biology methods such as proliferation assays and gene knockdown techniques.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with principal investigators and stakeholders to support laboratory and research functions
- Prepare the lab for daily operations, stocking materials, equipment, safety, and cleanliness
- Provide animal care related to research studies, as necessary
- Transport and maintain results, samples, documents, and materials
- Dispose of laboratory materials and samples following established guidelines
- Review, complete, and process logs, documents, and databases
- Research and propose recommendations to resolve process and unit issues
- Implement lab support policies and practices to meet organizational needs
- Assist in ensuring compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations
- Utilize a variety of laboratory techniques required for research projects
- Support other laboratory personnel in developing and executing experimental strategies
- Perform experiments and tabulate and analyze research results
- Support analytical testing processes, including pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical steps
- Minimum:
Bachelor’s degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field - Preferred:
Master’s degree or active enrollment in a master’s program in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field - Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques, safety procedures, and basic human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels
- Outstanding customer service skills
- Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information
