Job Title:

Lab Lead Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Lab Lead to oversee the processing and testing of lab samples. This role involves diluting samples for ICP, conducting visual checks, programming ICP computers, and running samples for FTIR. You will be responsible for selecting the correct reference oil and establishing computer data transfer, as well as completing visual notes on coolant, fuel, and oil samples.

The position requires assisting in running daily verification samples, managing rush samples, and ensuring the lab equipment is well‑maintained. As a working lead, you will supervise a team of 10‑11 lab technicians and report to the lab manager.

Responsibilities
  • Process and prepare lab samples.
  • Walk to pick up samples from various parts of the facility.
  • Supervise 10‑11 lab technicians and report to the lab manager.
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation and work with instrument vendors to resolve issues.
  • Address sample and testing bottlenecks and resolve employee conflicts in the absence of the lab manager.
  • Lead from the front in a working lead position.
Essential Skills
  • Laboratory experience in quality control and wet chemistry.
  • Analytical testing of samples and sample preparation.
  • Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Proficiency in chemistry, quality assurance, viscosity, particle count, ICP, IR, and gas chromatography.

  • Bachelor's degree in biology or a related field.
  • Experience in a fast‑paced environment, such as serving or bartending.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn.
  • Attention to detail and ability to apply constructive feedback.
  • Computer proficiency is necessary.
Work Environment

The lab team consists of fewer than 12 people and operates in a supportive and professional environment. The team processes 1000 - 1100 samples per day, requiring constant communication to meet deadlines. The assigned shift is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with no expected overtime while on contract.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Aurora, CO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
