OverviewJoin The GEO Group as a Licensed Practical Nurse and help provide evidence-based rehabilitation to inmates. The GEO Group is a global leader in correctional and community reentry services.
Responsibilities- Develop nursing care plans with guidance from the RN.
- Perform a complete physical assessment and medical history.
- Provide nursing care within your capacity and refer other medical problems to the appropriate physician.
- Administer prescribed medications as instructed.
- Periodically evaluate patients' symptoms, reactions, and progress, and report problems to management.
- Securely administer medication, taking precautions against drug hoarding and trafficking.
- Follow industry and company accreditation policies.
- Document all detainee contacts and keep medical records confidential.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current, unrestricted license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the state where the facility is located.
- Maintain a current copy of license on file at the facility at all times.
- Two (2) years of direct work experience preferred.
- Competence in the performance of crisis intervention, medical emergencies, physical assessment, medical nursing care, and psychiatric nursing care.
- Ability to work without direct, immediate supervision in performing nursing diagnosis and provide appropriate follow‑through treatment.
- Active, valid driver's license.
- At least twenty‑one (21) years of age or older.
- United States citizen.
- Pass a background check and drug screen.
- Have resided within the United States or its territories for three or more years out of the last five.
