Overview

Join The GEO Group as a Licensed Practical Nurse and help provide evidence-based rehabilitation to inmates. The GEO Group is a global leader in correctional and community reentry services.

Responsibilities
  • Develop nursing care plans with guidance from the RN.
  • Perform a complete physical assessment and medical history.
  • Provide nursing care within your capacity and refer other medical problems to the appropriate physician.
  • Administer prescribed medications as instructed.
  • Periodically evaluate patients' symptoms, reactions, and progress, and report problems to management.
  • Securely administer medication, taking precautions against drug hoarding and trafficking.
  • Follow industry and company accreditation policies.
  • Document all detainee contacts and keep medical records confidential.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current, unrestricted license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the state where the facility is located.
  • Maintain a current copy of license on file at the facility at all times.
  • Two (2) years of direct work experience preferred.
  • Competence in the performance of crisis intervention, medical emergencies, physical assessment, medical nursing care, and psychiatric nursing care.
  • Ability to work without direct, immediate supervision in performing nursing diagnosis and provide appropriate follow‑through treatment.
  • Active, valid driver's license.
  • At least twenty‑one (21) years of age or older.
  • United States citizen.
  • Pass a background check and drug screen.
  • Have resided within the United States or its territories for three or more years out of the last five.
