Description

Position #: , Requisition #: 38032. This is a 1.0 full‑time faculty clinical position within the Sarcoma Clinic at the University of Colorado Cancer Center. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will see oncology patients daily in the clinic, oversee a chemotherapy infusion area, provide in‑office and telephone support, and participate in active symptom management, palliative care, and clinical trial conduct.

Work Location

Onsite at UCHealth Cancer Clinic, 1665 Aurora Court, Aurora, CO 80045. The APP may be distributed amongst disease teams based on future clinical needs (e.g., Breast Center).

Responsibilities
  • Acquire comprehensive patient health assessments, including history, physical exam, preventive screening, and identification of medical risks.
  • Conduct scheduled study‑related visits, perform study screenings, and assess toxicity for patients on phase I‑III clinical trials.
  • Formulate differential diagnoses based on clinical evaluation.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic studies within scope of practice.
  • Perform advanced technical procedures per clinical program requirements.
  • Plan and implement therapeutic regimens, including prescription of medications and devices.
  • Establish systematic follow‑up, reassess and modify care plans, initiate referrals, and consult with physicians as required.
  • Teach patients and families to manage illness or wellness plans at home.
  • Facilitate client participation and promote self‑care decisions.
  • Utilize the medical system cost‑effectively while maintaining quality of care; may engage in case management and critical pathway management.
  • Collaborate with professional colleagues to provide comprehensive care as a responsible clinic professional.
  • Assist teammates as needed and use the computer system appropriately while following training protocols.
  • Maintain accurate, legible, and confidential medical records; chart current and comply with reporting requirements.
  • Work day shift with evenings, weekends, and holiday rotation; participate in night and weekend call as needed with physician backup.
  • Apply administrative policies and regulations; participate in required system training.
  • For final hire, obtain Allied Health credentialing through UCHealth medical staff office.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing and/or graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant School.
  • Current license to practice as an Advanced Practice Nurse or Physician Assistant with prescriptive privileges in Colorado.
  • Adherence to nursing credential review board requirements for advanced practice nurses.
  • Certification by a national professional organization as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three years of oncology skill set and experience as an Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
  • Clinical experience involving oncology and/or cancer clinical trials patients is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex data and troubleshoot research projects.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a team‑oriented environment.
  • Knowledge of compliance, safety, and regulatory procedures in research.
