The Division of GI, Trauma and Endocrine Surgery in the Department of Surgery at the University of Colorado School of Medicine has a full‑time faculty position available at the rank of Instructor for a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA). Under the direction of the full‑time faculty or designee, this position provides inpatient and outpatient medical care services at the University of Colorado Hospital (UCH).
The candidate will provide independent clinical services for general surgery patients at the UCH, including colorectal surgery patients, with duties encompassing rounding, writing orders, patient assessment, education, care coordination, disease management, and discharge activities. Outpatient responsibilities include clinic care, triage of phone calls, emails or faxes, post‑op follow‑up, management of referrals and laboratory/radiology tests. The NP/PA will collaborate with colorectal surgeons, sub‑specialty surgeons, emergency medicine physicians, intensivists, and hospital staff, providing care to patients in inpatient wards, acute care areas, and outpatient clinics.
This role is critical for service continuity and linking inpatient and outpatient care.
Onsite – located in Aurora, Colorado.

- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a master’s degree in nursing and/or a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Current license to practice as an Advanced Practice Nurse and/or Physician Assistant with prescriptive privileges or eligible for licensure.
- Meets and maintains specific requirements of the Nursing Credential Review Board (Nurse Practitioner) and the Medical Review Board (Physician Assistant).
- Two years of experience in general surgery, trauma, or critical care setting preferred.
- Experience with colorectal surgery patients is preferred.
- Experience with ostomy care and ostomy patients is preferred.

HIRING RANGE: $99,717 to $134,906
